Thought:

Your purpose as a missionary is to “Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.” (Preach My Gospel, p.1) The work of a missionary then is to help others become more like their heavenly father. We teach the gospel of Jesus Christ, testify of him and of eternal truths, invite them to exercise their faith and to make covenants and then promise blessings that come with doing these things.  Teach, testify, invite and promise blessings. But what invitations do we extend and what promises do we make, especially after they have been baptized?

The scriptures are full of invitations to make and the blessings promised to those who keep their covenants and exercise faith. Another great place to look is in General Conference addresses. Those addresses are a compilation of both foundational and contemporary invitations and promises. When you listen to and then review those messages, make a list of them. Then, you can share them with others and do so with great confidence that if those you teach will accept those invitations, they will receive those promises, for they are from the Lord himself.

Misc:

Elder Lynn G. Robbins likes to encourage those going out on ministering visits to find scriptures where the Savior has made invitations and then to use those invitations to invite others to act. "The Savior invited all men to be baptized..."

Invitation:

Use the talk listed above or a more recent address from the Lord’s prophet to identify and then write down each invitation and promised blessing listed in the talk. Begin immediately to implement those invitations and record what blessings you receive from such obedience. Next, find a way to carry that list with you (physically or through memorization) and use it to invite others to exercise their faith and receive promised blessings.
