Thought:
There is a great gap between being a leader and a person who is in charge. Leaders are examples. They have mud on their boots and are the best at what they ask others to do. They never ask anyone to do what they would not do, are not doing, or have not done. They think more about others and less about themselves. They like to train up their replacements because they know that knowledge and inspiration are two things that they can share with others that will extend beyond the grave.
Misc:
Leaders spend time developing more leaders.
Leaders take all the blame on themselves and assign all the credit to others
Leaders own it all; before, during and after.
Leaders delegate to help others grow and to have more time for people
Leaders subordinate their ego
Leaders are continuous learners and teachers
Leaders inspire, they don’t belittle or humiliate
Leaders ask questions
Leaders know it’s not about them, it’s about those in their charge
Leaders look outward for ways to help, not inward for ways to get ahead
Invitation:
You will always have the chance to lead. You’ll either be asked to do it or you’ll be sustaining someone with your unofficial leadership. Either way, you cannot not influence so make you influence a good one. Be a good leader, not just the person in charge.
