Scriptures:
2 Nephi 2: 22-30
Mosiah 3:19
Mosiah 4:29-30
Mosiah 5:7
Helaman 12:1-6
General Conference Address:
“Put Off the Natural Man, and Come Off Conqueror” Elder Neil A Maxwell CR 10/1990
Thought:
There are two forces at work in our lives. Amazing virtue, goodness, selflessness, charity, and love—our divine nature— and unthinkable evil, selfishness, sloth, wickedness, and carnality—our natural man. One must decide each moment of each day which he will feed, honor, expand, and become. Both are in you. You get to choose.
Selfishness is a major catalyst in breaking all of the commandments.
Misc:
“Most of the changes in our spiritual lives—both positive and negative—happen gradually, a step at a time… We may even have high confidence that we are walking a straight line. But the fact is that without the help of landmarks to guide us, we inevitably deviate off course and end up in places we never thought we would be.” Elder Uchtdorf CR 10/2021
Invitation:
Take time in your devotionals to evaluate your choices. Are they what you’d like them to be? Are you becoming who you want to be? If you have one, revisit your vision for yourself. If you don’t have one, take time this week to identify and write who and what you’d like to become. What qualities, virtues, actions, and legacy do you want to have? Then check your life. Are you doing those things? What can be improved? Identify 2-4 things that you can work on and make a plan to do so.
