Week 43- Applied Force

Scriptures:

2 Ne 2

D&C 121: 41-46

General Conference Address:

Valiant Discipleship in the Latter Days  Elder Jörg Klebingat CR 4/2022

Thought:

“God won’t force us to do good, and the devil can’t force us to do evil.”

Misc:

In traditional mechanics, if you want an object to move, you apply force (F = ma). However, the moment you try to "force" someone to do good, your "authority" or power effectively evaporates. We use invitations instead of force because people need to exercise faith to become converted. You cannot force someone into true conversion.

Invitation:

Beware of the temptation of FORCE. It always creates collateral damage. Don’t use it. Follow the counsel in D&C 121 and the example of Jesus Christ. Take time this week to list the possible collateral damage of forcing someone to do something.  Then, list some of the converting benefits of inviting someone to act, allowing one to choose for themselves. Compare your lists and write 2-4 conclusions that impacted you.
