“Out of Darkness into His Marvelous Light” Elder Robert D Hales CR 4/2002

Thought:

“All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing,” or something similar to that, is a common saying. But why is it true? This talk from Elder Hales shed some light on it for me. You cannot generate light by doing nothing. Talking won’t generate light. Hoping won’t generate light. The only way to generate light is to work. You generate light by exercising faith. That is such an important principle. We often are tricked into thinking that thinking is enough. It’s not. You cannot generate light by standing still. You must labor to bring the light. Once lit, it’s easy enough to maintain, but it must be generated and cared for. Neglect will let the light go out. That’s part of the job as disciples of Jesus. Help people find AND maintain the light in their lives.

Invitation:

Find ways to help those you teach generate light in their own lives. They cannot be left with nothing to do. That will bring darkness. Invite light into their lives by helping them exercise faith.
