Thought:
There is no room for self-righteousness in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught us to look outward at others-to forgive them, heal them, guide them, serve them, teach them, and love them. The temptation will always be toward self-preservation, judgment, self-righteousness and aggrandizement. That is the natural man and, like all temptations, it is a trap. The only way to find oneself is to lose oneself. If you’re ever feeling down, disconnected, unbalanced or in a bad way, start serving. Lose yourself in that service and you will find what you need.
Misc:
The Lord never really mentions much of self-care in his teachings. Does that mean that we shouldn’t take care of ourselves? Of course not! We’re temples and vessels of the spirit. That means that we should be well taken care of so that we can be instruments in his hands. The spirit cannot dwell in uncleanliness or in broken vessels. But don’t do it just for you. Do it to be an instrument in his hands.
Invitation:
Identify 2-5 concerns that you have that are self-centered. Write them down and then give them over to the Lord. Let him carry your burdens while you work to be his hands.
