Week 4- Think, Conclude, Verbalize

Thought:

To engage in active listening, learning, and revelation, we must encourage an atmosphere of mental effort. A pattern to use is Think, Conclude, and Verbalize. As we teach, we encourage the student to think about what principles are being taught. Use relatable stories where possible to help the student down their own path of discovery. Once they've had a chance to think about what is being taught, ask them to draw conclusions from the story, scripture, example, etc. Once they have gathered their conclusions, encourage them to verbalize and share those conclusions. Each step builds on the others in an agency, using faith and building a pattern of learning. Only when we express what we are learning can the Holy Ghost confirm it. Thus, the pattern of revelation is to do your homework, draw a conclusion, and then seek a confirming witness. The process is incomplete without all three steps.

Invitation:

When asking someone to act in faith, use this pattern:  Give them an assignment so they can do their homework, ask them to draw a conclusion on what they learned that aligns with known gospel truths, and then have them verbalize it in a prayer to know the truth of it.
