General Conference Address:

“Meek and Lowly of Heart” Elder David A Bednar CR 4/2018

Thought:

Meek and humble are often uttered in the same breath. But like faith and belief, they are similar, but very different. Belief is an educated hope in something unseen. Faith is acting on belief.  Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less. Meekness is acting in humility, demonstrated by righteous responsiveness, willing submissiveness and discipline/self-restraint. Faith and Meekness are verbs, words of action. They are the opposite of murmuring and sloth.

Misc:

“Meekness is a defining attribute of the Redeemer and is distinguished by righteous responsiveness, willing submissiveness, and strong self-restraint…Meekness is strong, not weak; active, not passive; courageous, not timid; restrained, not excessive; modest, not self-aggrandizing; and gracious, not brash. A meek person is not easily provoked, pretentious, or overbearing and readily acknowledges the accomplishments of others.” Elder David A Bednar CR 4/2018

Invitation:

Write out what meekness is and what it isn’t. What did you learn in this talk that changed the way you thought about and understood meekness? How can you be more meek?
