Thought:

There are so many things to consider, worry about and struggle with when we think about the gospel in terms of us. I just don’t see the evidence that Jesus spent much time thinking about Jesus. In fact, we see much evidence to the contrary. We are to take care of ourselves and keep ourselves unspotted from the world, of course. But most of that will come through serving others, especially the widows and fatherless.

“Scores of discouraged new missionaries have been comforted to learn that early in his own mission, President Hinckley was also discouraged and admitted as much to his father. He even courageously shared his father’s brief response: “Dear Gordon, I have your recent letter.I have only one suggestion: forget yourself and go to work.”5 

Invitation: 

Identify a fatherless family or child and a widow and consider ways that you can “be with, watch over and strengthen them.” They make a plan and act on it.
