General Conference Address:

“Let the Holy Spirit Guide” Elder Rasband CR 4/2017

“Swallowed Up in the Will of the Father” Elder Maxwell CR 10/1995

Thought:

Part of the “becoming” process is aligning our will with that of the Father.  The Father and the Son (and the Holy Ghost) are perfectly aligned.  There is no friction from misalignment.  They are so powerful because they operate in perfect harmony and unanimity.  If we are trying to be like Jesus and are striving to align our will with his, doesn’t it follow that almost all of our actions and decisions will be in harmony with theirs?  That is likely why “The Prophet Joseph Smith taught that if you will listen to the first promptings, you will get it right nine times out of ten.”(See Elder Rasband’s talk above). Of course, we’ll be right because even if it were us talking and not the spirit, it will be in accordance with and in harmony with their will.

Misc:

D&C 58: 26-27 reminds us that we have a lot of work to do of our “own free will.”  We can’t expect to be prompted in all things.  How would we ever grow under those circumstances?  That is what computers do, not humans who are trying to become better acquainted with the scriptures.  Don’t wait to be prompted in all things.  Find his path, stay on it, and act accordingly.  Then you can be and remain an instrument in his hands, even when he’s not prompting you to do something.

Invitation:

Strive to follow the first prompting ten times this week.  Record each one of them and how they turned out.
