Week 45- The Path of Invitations

Scriptures:

Mosiah 5

Moses 6: 49-68

3 Ne 27: 13-33

General Conference Address:

“Why the Covenant Path” Elder D Todd Christofferson CR 4/21

Thought:

We invite others to BELIEVE (Faith), CHANGE (Repent), COMMIT (Baptism) and PROGRESS (Receive the Holy Ghost and Endure to the End). This process is necessary because a judgment is coming and the standard is perfection. Jesus Christ wrought the atonement to make it possible to live again both physically and spiritually.

Misc:

It’s never just about invitations. They’re important, but they can make us think that we’re being successful when really that may or may not be accurate. Making invitations is a good default behavior, but it’s just one step in conversion. The real goal is conversion, not just invitations.  Invitations are a means to an end (exercising faith to become more like our Father), not an end to themselves.

Invitation:

Consistently make invitations. Do it all the time. But don’t start or stop there. You generally have to prepare someone for an invitation, and you almost always have to follow up with them to see it through. The next time you make an invitation, make the follow-up expectations clear and then set that date. It will help you and it will certainly help them.
