Week 104- Fierce Winds and a Promised Land
Scriptures:
Ether 6: 1-12
General Conference Address:
“Prayer” Elder Henry B Eyring CR 10/2001
Thought:
We all have a destination promised to us. Our own promised land. The Jaredites were directed to their promised land, but it was no smooth-sailing luxury cruise. What can you learn about what to expect on the journey to your promised land as you explore Ether 6: 1-12?
Misc:
"A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are built for.". This is usually attributed to John A. Shed
Invitation:
Study Ether 6: 1-12. Outline what principles of adversity you recognize. For each principle, write your conclusion about why that principle was used and what would have happened if that principle had not been used. For example, if there had been no wind, where would they have ended up? Look up what happened when, in 1992, a cargo ship lost nearly 30,000 rubber ducks. Where did they end up? How far apart from each other could 8 vessels be after a year on the ocean? Why did they need a fierce wind to end up in their promised land? Summarize your conclusion in 3-4 sentences and then share it with someone.
